For use in explosive areas of Zone 1, the requirements are so high that normally pressure-tight encapsulated actuators are used. Because of the low number of Ex 1 actuators compared to normal applications, the costs for parts and certification are reflected in high equipment prices. Furthermore, you as a user have the problem that you are confronted with completely different actuators in the normal and hazardous area and a totally different setting and commissioning. For these reasons, ARIS is taking a different approach. The standard drives Nano+, Tensor and CL (up to 40 Nm) are housed in an additional pressure-resistant enclosure. As a result, only the outer housing changes for you. The actuator remains completely unchanged. Furthermore, the use of pressure-tight encapsulated standard housings is significantly less expensive than special pressure-resistant actuators, but they fulfill the same task.
